Eye Gouge Head Training

“Reality-based training has never been so real!”

The Eye Gouge Head has two applications: For Civilian Self-Defense and for Law Enforcement, Military, Corrections & Security Training

Self Practice

The Eye Gouge Head allows you to become familiar with the human head and the location of the eyes relative to the other facial or structural features of the skull. Practicing on this “replica head” enables you to become confident and competent in the bio-mechanics of attacking from various angles (whether from behind, in-front, beside, above or below the eye sockets). The natural angles and anchor points of the Eye Gouge Head are very similar to a real human head which allows you to gain knowledge about ranges as well as learning both the advantages and disadvantages from a 360 degree practice platform. We recommend to have the training eyes out for some of the drills so that you can see the actual interior structure of the tapered eye socket and practice penetrating into the depth of the orbit. The principle action of pressure/counter pressure does NOT have to be made with your other hand. It can be anything (wall, ground, interior of vehicle, tree etc.) that prevents the attacker from “moving out” of the technique.

After less than an hours practice, students became “comfortable” with simulating an eye “gouge”. They “finally had a chance to practice what was only a concept target before”.

The Eye Gouge Head is light weight and is able to be taken anywhere and practiced in private if preferred. It does not require any special set up functions.

Partner Practice

To practice with a partner, simply attached the handle into base of the head. It is important to wear the protective eyewear to prevent unintentional strikes. Now your training partner can provide a target for you by holding the Eye Gouge Head. This enables you to practice attacking from a variety of relative positions (laying on top, below, standing behind, in-front) as well as in an unlimited amount of environmental locations and conditions (seated in a vehicle, standing in an alley, at home, business, airplane/transit, day/night etc.). Consult your Subject Matter Experts for best practice techniques and tactics.

*All the above and below mentioned tactics are extremely injurious in the real world which is why all trainees must understand the legal ramifications of using violence to prevent or extricate themselves or others from an attack. All users should consult the governing criminal and civil laws applicable to “self defence” in their region (as well as other jurisdictions when visiting) and fully understand other options of social de-escalation and escape prior to having to use violence to defend themselves.

Stay Safe, It’s Your Right.

Cupped Hand Ear Slap

The Eye Gouge Head also allows the user to practice striking an attacker’s ear replicating what is likely to cause a ruptured tympanic membrane (ear drum). When a cupped hand is struck against the outer ear, the resultant rush (over-pressure) of air into the middle ear can cause a tear (barotrauma) in the ear drum. The energy can also upset the “balance” bones in the inner ear. This can result in disorientation, vertigo and pain giving you a further chance to create a window of opportunity to reassess, disengage or escalate dependant on the situation and your perception of risk.

Eye Gouge Head is another fine product designed by the crew at Blue Training Systems.

Cranial Pressure Points

The Eye Gouge Head can also be used to demonstrate and train students/officers who are interested in learning how to properly locate and apply cranial pressure points (CPP) to deal with passive/active resistors. These CPP’s are not designed to be used against an attacker but would be appropriate in learning how to control some low level/active resistance. Simply attach a CPP red dot sticker (under nose in video) to the desired location(s). Using the EGH will reduce the amount of potential germ and mucous transmission from student hand to student face which sometimes occurs during traditional “hands on” CPP training. After they have practiced the location and application on the EGH, it is recommended that they perform actual scenarios with actual partners for confidence and competence measurability. Key aspects of correct application include: Head Control; Pressure Counter Pressure; Digital Tip only; No Uwaras; and Zero to Maximum power scale. Consult your Subject Matter Experts for best practice training at your dojo/facility or your agency/tactical team.

This is not a striking/punching head. It is designed solely for practicing extreme self-defense tactics. It is not designed to train sport fighters or other martial arts systems for striking for points where competitive rules are involved. There are many great striking pads and targets for that purpose.

As in the real world, punching to the head can cause significant injury to the hand as the human skull bones/plates are extremely thick and have much more mass and density than the hand. Therefore the risk of losing finite motor skills with broken/ dislocated fingers/connective tissue may prohibit you from using your hand(s) for important complex tasks such as manipulating firearms/weapons, using radios/phones, opening doors or accessing and using car keys etc. The Eye Gouge Head is therefore not designed or intended to be punched as would be a regular “striking dummy” used for traditional gloved or bare hand sport/martial arts training. There are many great striking dummies on the market for that purpose!
